SEPTEMBER 24 Fall Bulbs for Spring Bloom with Andy Durbridge Durbridge, former Director of Horticulture at Old Westbury Gardens on Long Island, will present a wonderful selection of bulbs for fall planting. Currently a private garden designer and consultant in the Hudson Valley, he will share tips on design as well as advice on getting all those other garden chores done before the snow flies! Durbridge currently runs Durbridge Gardens. OCTOBER 1 Eli's Favorite Trees and Shrubs for Fall with Eli Joseph-Hunter Joseph-Hunter, a passionate plantsman of the Phantom Gardener, will enlighten you with some great suggestions and descriptions of his favorite trees and shrubs for fall. Currently developing his own arboretum in the Catskill Mountains, he has spent several years studying, selling and observing woody plants. Eli will give you many ideas to enliven your fall landscape! OCTOBER 8 Fall for Design! with Linda Anderson Anderson, landscape designer for the Phantom Gardener, will share her enthusiasm for design and explain why fall is a terrific time for garden creation. A graduate of Cornell University's Landscape Architecture Department, Linda will encourage new ways of thinking about landscape, share some insight into the design process, and help you understand how to begin implementing your own design ideas. Feel free to bring photographs, questions, and sketchbook to this workshop. OCTOBER 15 Fall Clean-up and Soil Preparation with Norbert Lazar Lazar, the Phantom himself, long-time organic gardener, and believer in sustainable gardening practices, will describe basic clean-up techniques for your garden. Since the success of any garden is dependent upon the health of the soil, he will also share with you organic methods to improve your soil.
